The Parliament did not support Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk’s amendment on the introduction of a single excise tax rate on gasoline and liquefied gas at the level of €139.5 per 1 thousand litres. According to enkorr, 145 deputies voted in favour of her amendment, with a minimum of 226.
When considering the draft, Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairperson of the Committee, stated that the Committee had got the letter from Pavlo Khodakovsky, Deputy Minister of Finance, on December 12. In the letter, he supported the establishment of a single excise tax rate on LPG and petrol at the level of €139.5 per 1 thousand litres. This decision was allegedly to provide additional budget revenues of ₴5 billion.
The Verkhovna Rada returned draft bill No. 2317 to the Committee for its second reading. 304 deputies voted for this decision. They also decided, the bill would be reconsidered on December 17, with 281 deputies voted in favour. Vasylevska-Smahliuk’s amendment provided for the reduction in the excise taxes on gasoline from the current €213.5 per 1 thousand litres to €139.5 as well as the increase in the excise taxes on LPG from €52 to €139.5 per 1 thousand litres.
Inside the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, Olga Smahliuk is referred to the so-called “Be! Team”, a group of deputies loyal to Kolomoisky and led by Dubinsky.
