On April 27, 2020, the Supreme Court once again adjourned the Surkis brothers case. We want to remind that under certain conditions of consideration of this case, Ukraine as the state can lose about 30 billion of hryvnias. The case was postponed several times, but on April 13 was announced that court would be considered on April 27. On this day, Anton Shvets, one of the co-founders of the Democratic Axe (Демократична Сокира) was in the courtroom. The activists and members of the party led by Yuri Hudymenko and Igor Shchedrin were outside of the Supreme Court building. We want to remind about other activities of "Democratic Axe" during each hearing of the Surkis case: on December 17 2019, January 31 and March 16 2020.
The "Democratic Axe" also was near the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal, where the case of the Surkis brothers also was heard: on April 8, April 13, and April 15 2020. The Kyiv Court of Appeal considered the appeal of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, but without of the Privatbank's lawyers. PrivatBank's lawyers were not allowed to attend the hearing because they did not receive subpoena. “Espresso” wrote about a possible conspiracy. On April 15, the court decision was made in favor of the Surkis, which could cost the Ukrainian budget nearly 250$ million.
On May 4, the Supreme Court appealed to the High Council of Justice and the Office of the Attorney General with complaint. The judges indicated about inadmissibility of pressure on court from Anton Shvets and the Democratic Axe.
The day before, Anton Shvets wrote a statement to NABU on suspicion of corruption and criminal conspiracy of judges of the Supreme Court in favor of Surkis and Kolomoyskiy. NABU replied that they had taken the information into account and started studying the materials.
