As Корреспондент.net reports: The former chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, Yakiv Smoliy, suggested that oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky, the former owner of PrivatBank, may be involved in political pressure on the NBU chairman, as a result of which he resigned. This opinion was expressed by the former head of the NBU in an interview with the publication Left Bank, which was published on Monday, July 6.
«If we trace the line of events around PrivatBank, there is an assumption that Kolomoisky may be involved in this, in order to weaken the influence of the National Bank in the courts inside the country and abroad. But this is an assumption,« he said.
Yakiv Smoliy believes that the pressure on the NBU began in autumn 2019.
«From those fabricated, in my opinion, corruption scandals, when two people (employees of the National Bank) were arrested for trying to get a bribe. And where are these cases? Then the protests began. The month they drummed here (near the NBU building). Where I live: horses, people, orchestras, funeral marches. My wife and I were forced to live in an apartment which address they did not know. The group of channel 1 + 1 came to the house where my daughter lives. Why? « he emphasized.
We remind you that in November, near NBU were several weeks of protests with the participation of people wearing vests of enterprises, some of which belong to or are under the influence of Igor Kolomoisky. According to an UNIAN correspondent, there were representatives of the following enterprises: Zaporozhye plant "Ferosplav", "Nikopol plant", "Marganetsky GOK", "Pokrovsky GOK", "DniproAzot", "Dnieper metallurgical plant", plant "Dnieper steel", «Pobuzhsky ferronikel plant «. "Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant" and "DniproAzot".
Smoliy clarified that the pressure was mainly on him, as well as on the first deputy head of the NBU Kateryna Rozhkova. Later, they began to put pressure on the Deputy Chairman of the NBU Oleg Churiy, responsible for the monetary policy of the National Bank.
According to the former head of the National Bank, the purpose of the allegedly fabricated corruption cases was to discredit the NBU leadership.
Also, Smoliy said earlier that he had with President Volodymyr Zelenky met with President Volodymyr Zelensky before resigning and understood from the context of the conversation with him that he should resign.
We will remind, on July 3 Rada voted for resignation of Smoliy who in the evening on July 2 submitted the application for dismissal at own will. He explained his decision by political pressure on the central bank. He explained his decision by political pressure on National Bank.
