In 2015-2017 Andrii headed the Reform Project Office of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine under Minister of Defence Stepan Poltorak.

2016-2019 – Consultant on Efficiency, Discovery Drilling Equipment Ltd.

2018-2019 – CEO of Discovery Consulting Engineers Ltd.

On July 5, 2019, he was appointed a freelance adviser to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, and on July 9 – a member of the Supervisory Board of the State Concern Ukroboronprom.

On August 29, 2019, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky submitted the candidacy of Andrii Zagorodnyuk to the position of the Minister of Defence for the consideration of the Verkhovna Rada of the IXth convocation. His candidacy was supported by 314 People’s Deputies. Zagorodnyuk replaced Stepan Poltorak.

Zagorodnyuk’s father worked for years in the supervisory board of Ukrnafta, controlled by Ihor Kolomoisky – he served as the Chairman of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists. The Minister himself denies this association as well as any communications.
