Oleksandr Tkachenko

Honorary President of 1+1 Media, People’s Deputy of the IXth convocation for the political party Servant of the People.

1994-1999 – President of the Nova Mova (literally New Speech) production studio, engaged in the creation of the Pislyamova (literally PostScript) and Oblychchya Svitu (literally Face of the World) TV-programmes for the UT-1 and Inter TV-channels.

In December 1996, Tkachenko moved to the newly-established Studio 1+1 with the Pislyamova team and launched Television Service of News (TSN) there. The programme went on air on January 1, 1997, with Alla Mazur. The Pislyamova TV-programme was also on air, and Tkachenko became Deputy General Producer of the channel. In December 1997, he left.

In April 1999, he headed Novy Channel by the invitation of the Russian Alfa Bank owner. Oleksandr invited some members of the Pislyamova team, namely Andrii Shevchenko, Ivanna Naida and Ihor Kulias, to Reporter News Programme – thus, he reformatted the programme and made it competitive.

In 2000, the channel entered the top three market leaders.

From January 2000 to May 2001, he was an advisor to Prime Minister Viktor Yushchenko (on a voluntary basis).

In 2003, he became the informal leader of the so-called Pinchuk Holding (Novy Channel, ICTV, STB).

In August 2004, he retired from responsibility of the holding head, and in January 2005, he left Novy Channel.

In 2005, he became the chairman of the management board and one of the shareholders of CJSC Odessa Film Studio. There, he was engaged in the development of a chain of cinemas and in cinema distribution.

In 2008, he worked in Moscow as the Deputy General Director of REN-TV Channel in ownership of RLT Group, German media holding.

Since August 2008, he has held a position of General Director of 1+1 Media Group, that includes such channels as: 1+1, 2+2, TET and CITI (in 2012 relaunched as PLUSPLUS, children’s TV channel).

On August 20, 2019, he retired from responsibility of the General Director of 1+1 holding. Tkachenko said, 1+1 Media would change the governance structure and Oleksandr himself would become the Honorary President of the media holding.
